The price was too high for my budget but i felt this was a tool i needed for my health.
It has velcro tabs that mate each hinge together and make it very unlikely that your foot can punch through a hinge.

It is also one of the best pads for steep low ball falls on your backside.

For its size it is relatively light and compact.
It has a convenient strap and tri fold design that turns it into a pretty comfortable couch.
I like how thick it is and mold able to the ground but considering the weight i would recommend something else.
Lastly and most importantly can be made into a little couch when not in use to chill on.
The mad rock r3 is the best pad we tested for conforming to lumpy landings and for packing gear.
At 44 x 72 this pad is the biggest on the market.
It is super light weight and doesn t hinder me at all on steep or rocky approaches and the waist and chest straps help a lot to hold it in place on my back.
Just like the regular mad pad five inches of open and closed foam cushions your drop but your aim can be slightly off cause there s plenty of landing space.
The mad rock triple mad pad is the least expensive of all the big crash pads we tested and comes with a ton of features.
Also because of how the pad folds it feels a little awkward on my back like its lop sidded and sits uneven.
It was nearly impossible to bottom out on sharp rocks under the pad from any height.
I read some of the comments and on you tube and decided to purchase it.
I did research and have concluded the mad rock triple pad the best mat on the market to meet my requirements.
